There was a time I knew my confidence level was below zero (0%).
Walking past a hall, in the street or anywhere people were, I’d feel like the whole world was staring at me and you’d see it written all over me cos my eyes would be on the ground.
It’s weird, right?
I know some of you might have been faced with even worse situations. Know this- you are not alone.
You might feel you need more advice, or need to read more books and do some things before you can have confidence.
To that I say “No, you don’t”. You just need to find your ‘’confidence booster’’ and work on it.
Enough of the story, let’s get to the deal of the day:
10 Ways to Be Confident in Any Situation
#1. Let your body language speak for you
When you sit, sit up straight and when you walk, make sure you walk tall and not with your face down. It makes you feel more confident.
#2. Be Social
Break the me, myself and I syndrome instead of being quiet, alone and constantly checking your phone. Start a friendly conversation with the person right next to you.
#3 Don’t be scared to make mistakes
You weren’t born perfect. Neither was I. As a matter of fact, nobody has been or ever will be born perfect. Accept your mistakes as learning experiences and use them as stepping stones to build your confidence.
#4. Always remind yourself that there’s no special button for overnight confidence.
It takes consistent practice to be good at anything. Work on yourself till your confidence level is 101%. And then keep going.
#5 “Stab” Your Comfort Zone
Did you ever “stab” classes in uni? Yeah? Good. So you know what I mean.
Get out of your comfort zone more often. Do things that scare you.
#6. Confidence is ‘’Do It Yourself’’(DIY)
Eleanor Roosevelt once said: “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
While that is true, the opposite is also true. No one can make you feel confident. You have to decide to feel confident. And fake it till you make it.
#7. Don’t try to be someone else, Be You.
What works for Peter might not work for Paul, find your confidence booster and use it. Do what works for you.
#8. Maximize the power of your thought
People see you as you present yourself to them. And how you present yourself to them depends on how you see yourself.
Everything starts from the mind. There is greatness within you. You just need to bring it out even if it is bit by bit.
If you tell yourself that you are confident, it might take a while but it will eventually manifest itself.
#9. When you talk to people, maintain eye contact and smile.
Even if you are nervous, handle it like the champ you are and you would be amazed at how much more confident you would begin to feel.
#10. Make sure to have a positive To Do list.
Ensure that you complete and tick off all items on the list by the end of the day.
There’s nothing like the confidence that comes from achieving goals and completing tasks.
When you do, then you can give yourself a reward as your own compensation plan.
In conclusion, you need to know that all the celebrities you see on stage performing confidently, motivational speakers you want to be like, pastors, newscasters, etc started from somewhere.
It took hard work and consistent practice to be where they are today.
Work on yourself and you would be glad you gave yourself a chance.
